Chris Hankinson has been one of Toulouse Olympique’s most important players in the 2022 Super League season so far.

After spending four seasons at the Wigan Warriors – two of which were spent on-loan at the Swinton Lions and London Broncos – Hankinson was keen to get more Super League minutes under his belt.

But, surprisingly, his move to Toulouse came about rather quickly after talks with other clubs didn’t impress him as much as those did with the French side.

“I actually signed for the club (Toulouse) three weeks prior to pre-season starting,” Hankinson told Serious About Rugby League.

“I was on holiday in Cyprus during the time when it was settled and during that time I was in contact with a few other Super League clubs which were pretty promising.

“I’m not going to mention any names, but I had some great opportunities to get some more Super League experience which is vital for me.”

And, the 27-year-old revealed just what clinched it for Toulouse.

“The prospect of coming out to France and getting out of my comfort zone in the club’s first Super League season was a big pull for me.

“Their style of play – open and fast – also really suits me.”
