Exclusive: Ex-Catalans Dragons man open to Championship move but one club is surprisingly unlikely

In the wake of their play-off defeat to Leeds which ended their ambitions of returning to the Grand Final, Catalans have begun ringing the changes for 2023 confirming the release of nine players some of which are home grown talents with plenty of potential.
Thus, plenty of Super League clubs – especially those interested in young players like Romain Franco, Mathieu Cozza and Corentin Le Cam – will no doubt be sniffing around.
However, one of those three young Frenchmen has revealed to Serious About Rugby League that a move to another Super League club is unlikely.
That man is Corentin Le Cam who is one of the tallest players in Super League history and thus has massive potential as a physical asset for any club willing to make a move for the young man.
However, Le Cam has revealed that his future is up in the air with no Super League offers coming in: “No I don’t know yet. There’s been no Super League offers at the moment.”
However, for Le Cam playing in Super League isn’t as important as game time which he wasn’t getting at the star-studded Dragons: “We need playing time and even if we signed in the Super League maybe we would be in the same situation as at the Catalans Dragons.”
This is why the forward says he’s very open to a move to the Championship noting the game time he’d likely get if he made the move: “Yes, what is certain is that I need playing time to progress. Yes I think the best option for me would be to play in the Championship.”
One obvious move would be to fellow French side Toulouse following their relegation and determination to return to Super League.
When asked if he’d be open to joining Toulouse, Le Cam revealed that he would but that Toulouse were unlikely to make a move for him with a surprising lack of interest from their side when contact by his agent: “Yes [I would be open to a move to Toulouse] but Toulouse does not seem interested in me next year.”
Thus his future is very open indeed.
