Exclusive: Ex-Castleford Tigers prop Gadwin Springer set for big move

Gadwin Springer’s next club is just around the corner.

Springer was released by French club Toulouse Olympique earlier in the week with the prop forward expected to join a club in the UK.

That club, Serious About Rugby League understands, is Featherstone Rovers with a senior official confirming that they are ‘watching Gadwin’s situation with interest.’

Springer signed for Toulouse Olympique back in November last year, just a month after it was announced he would be joining Elite One Championship side Villeneuve.

Springer had been confirmed as a Villeneuve player in October but chose to come back to Super League.

The French-Guianan prop actually came through the Toulouse academy before joining the Catalans Dragons where he made his debut in the Super League in 2014.

Confined to the Catalans reserve team, he then went to Castleford Tigers. The French forward played nearly 60 games in three seasons with the Tigers, before ending up on the periphery at the Jungle and moving on.

His next destination was the Toronto Wolfpack whom he helped climb to Super League at the end of the 2019 season.

After a shortened year in 2020, he returned to the Championship competition this year with Halifax, then Featherstone who recruited him during the summer.

Villeneuve agreed to the release to allow Springer to join.

Now, though, Springer is set to return to the UK where he made his name for Castleford.
