Exclusive: Dane Chisholm opens up on relationship with ex-Leeds Rhinos Brian McDermott as he explains Featherstone Rovers exit

Dane Chisholm is one of the most exciting halfbacks around especially when he was at Featherstone.

However, after three years at Post Office Road, his time at the club came to an end mid way through 2022 with Chisholm joining London Broncos on loan prior to joining the Keighley Cougars whom he helped to promotion to the Betfred Championship.

This came as then new coach Brian McDermott, formerly of the Leeds Rhinos, put his own stamp on the Rovers squad as he chased promotion signing the likes of Ryley Jacks and Jonathan Ford to play in the halves as Chisholm missed out on play time.

However, the halfback revealed exclusively to Serious About Rugby League that he has a good relationship with McDermott as he explained how his Featherstone exit came about: “My relationship with Mac was good and still is.

“He inherited a squad and I guess wanted to make it his own, he had his ideas on how he wanted Fev to look and play.

“I would have loved to have stayed and have my third attempt at promotion with them but it wasn’t to be.

“I then went on loan to London for 3 games, it was just a bit hard leaving my young family up north while I played down south.

“I then started having talks with Keighley about a potential move to them.”
