Blake Austin will be a Leeds Rhinos player in 2022 – that is a fact.
But, what happens beyond that is still a mystery.
Having signed a one-year deal with the Rhinos after spending three seasons at the Warrington Wolves, Austin has been the subject of speculation.
World Wide of Sports’ The Mole linked Austin with a move to new NRL club the Dolphins barely a week ago, but now the 30-year-old has spoken exclusively to Serious About Rugby League about his future, breaking his silence on the matter.
“I don’t really buy into too much speculation,” Austin said.
“It doesn’t matter what I say really, I was told when I was at Warrington that I was constantly preparing for the next flight home to Australia.
“Obviously a lot of Australians come here with a view to going back home eventually, but if anyone knows me or has followed my career knows that I jump in pretty full on to the clubs I have been at and Leeds will be no different.
“So, I’m very excited to work hard and bring some success to Leeds over the next 12 months.”
Austin will link up with former Canberra Raiders halfback partner Aidan Sezer in a reunion that has had Leeds fans licking their lips in anticipation.
Alongside Austin and Sezer, former St Helens star James Bentley and Tonga international winger David Fusitu’a have also walked through the doors at Headingley as head coach Richard Agar attempts to steer the Rhinos to glory in 2022.
