Hull FC prop Herman Ese’ese has given his verdict on two of the side’s new recruits, with both coming to the UK from NRL.
Ese’ese was one of very few good performers for Hull FC in 2024, and arrived alongside Nu Brown, Franklin Pele and Jayden Okunbor from NRL.
However, Pele, Brown and Okunbor all left the club mid-season, before even a single season with the club was up, and this means many of the club’s supporters will surely be viewing new signings with caution.
Aidan Sezer, formerly of Huddersfield Giants and Leeds Rhinos, knows Super League, but is coming off the back of a disappointing first season back in Australia with Wests Tigers.
Meanwhile, much-loved Jordan Rapana is leaving Canberra Raiders after a decade at the club, and will be an option on the wing and at full-back for the Black and Whites.
“Exactly what we need” – Hull FC star gives verdict on NRL duo
Speaking to Hull Daily Mail, Ese’ese said: “I played a lot of footy against both Jordan and Aidan in the NRL.
“They’re two very experienced blokes that have played in a lot of big games. They’re both really professional, and I’ve got no doubt they’ll be a big influence on the squad next year.
“They will both drive the standard of player that we have at the club. They’re competitors, and they want to win. Rapana, especially, is one of the toughest competitors out there. He always puts his body on the line, and he always does what is best for the team.
He continued: “Aidan is a really good game manager. That’s what we need: good management in the spine and really tough competitors. We’ve got a young team, with some bright young players, and they’ll come in and add their influence to the young fellas and help them out and progress their playing skills.
“They are exactly what we need for us to move forward.”
