Former Wigan Warriors academy player Joe Baldwin has penned a new deal to remain with North Wales Crusaders. The Crusaders will be looking to play their part in what looks set to be a very competitive League One campaign next season and the retention of Baldwin could prove to be important.
The 19-year-old made 20 appearances for the Crusaders last time around after leaving Wigan without making a senior appearance at the end of the 2023 campaign. The hooker scored one try, too, with his effort coming in the narrow loss to Rochdale Hornets at Stadiwm CSM.
Baldwin’s performances saw him win the Crusaders’ young player of the year award, and after penning a deal for the 2025 season, he’ll hope to continue his development and shine even brighter next time around.
“I’m really happy to keep Joe on board,” head coach Carl Forster told North Wales Crusaders’ official website.
“Last year he came in unknown to the group and a young lad, full of energy wanting to learn.
“He ended the year starting and playing big minutes, he was outstanding and deservedly won young player of the year.
“Joe will only get better the more he plays and I’m really happy that it shall be with Crusaders.”
Baldwin joins the likes of former Swinton Lions man Paddy Jones and ex-Oldham man Jack Holmes in signing for the club for next year.
He spent for years with Wigan Warriors, joining the club as a youngster in 2019 having played his amateur rugby with Orrell St James.
