Ex-Wigan Warriors star Jackson Hastings slams critics after being targeted online

Jackson Hastings wears his heart on his sleeve as a rugby league player.

In his three and a half years in Super League, the halfback became one of the most impressive playmakers in the UK, winning the Man of Steel in 2019 whilst at Salford Red Devils as he helped the Manchester club get to the Grand Final before switching to the Wigan Warriors.

The Warriors reached the Grand Final in 2020 with Hastings at the helm before the Australian returned to the NRL at the end of 2021 to take up a deal with the Wests Tigers.

However, after a series of poor results, a Wests fan questioned his commitment to the cause after the departure of Michael Maguire, stating: “I’m not questioning your commitment to be out on the field! I’m simply asking the question based on my experience in a result oriented industry for 44yrs, is your loyalty to Madge going to affect your commitment to the club & the new coach?”

That didn’t go down well with Hastings – and rightly so.

Hastings replied: “You’re trying to question my integrity. I give my best every week, does it always go to plan? Absolutely not. I’m currently focused on this week no further hector.”

Hastings has been a key part of the Wests side in 2022, switching roles with Luke Brooks to become the major cog in the Tigers’ wheel.
