Being a rugby league coach is no fun at times.
The uncertainty surrounding their futures can put a lot of stress on a coach to get the best out of their players and when that doesn’t go right, it can often lead to a termination of their contract.
Well, that’s exactly what has happened with Wests Tigers head coach Michael Maguire, whose name will be remembered fondly at one particular Super League club – Wigan Warriors.
Maguire led Wigan to a Grand Final and Challenge Cup Final triumph at the turn of the 2010s and set the foundations for the success under Shaun Wane.
However, Maguire has struggled in the NRL with Wests and found himself out of a job this morning.
In doing so, however, the Tigers have frustrated a number of players who came to play for the veteran head coach – including another whose name will resonate around the DW Stadium, Jackson Hastings.
Hastings only left Wigan at the end of 2021 and has become one of Wests’ most impressive stars so far in 2022.
However, a cryptic post on his Instagram has left Tigers fans questioning whether Hastings will follow Maguire out of the club after being linked with a move away.
His post showed a photo of the halfback and the head coach with three shaking hand emojis in one last message to his former boss.
