Ex-Wigan Warriors forward Ryan Sutton set to make remarkable comeback in the NRL play-offs

Any young English player that makes the plunge in the NRL deserves credit and no less England international and former Wigan star Ryan Sutton who has taken to life in the NRL very well.

It’s never being easy for Sutton who has had to fight with plenty of brilliant forwards in the Australian capital for places in the Canberra side but he has never fallen away and has always found his way into the side even after spells on the sidelines.

Now the Raiders are desperate to have him back after Adam Elliott’s injury woes going into the knockout game against Parramatta as both teams dream of a Grand Final with the Raiders now dark horses.

Sutton is set to make a sensational comeback according to zerotackle after many thought he had played his last game for the club before a move to Canterbury Bulldogs in 2023 alongside fellow England international forward Luke Thompson, but now an amazing return is now on the cards.

Sutton suffered a finger injury which required ligament surgery but with Canberra’s amazing turn around taking them within 160 minutes of the Grand Final, he’s going to get one last chance at playing for the Raiders and pushing for a return to the final.

Sadly for Elliott his Canberra career is over due to this injury ahead of a move to Newcastle Knights in 2023.

Sutton started his career at Wigan making 115 appearances for Wigan before making 74 appearances for the Raiders and he’ll be hoping for appearances 75, 76 and 77 to make it to the Grand Final.

We’ll have to wait and see but appearance 75 seems likely according to these reports from zerotackle.
