Ex-Wigan Warriors boss Michael Maguire speaks out on rumours linking him with Wests Tigers pressure

Ex-Wigan Warriors head coach Michael Maguire is said to be under pressure to save his Wests Tigers job before a ball has being kicked.

The Tigers won eight games and finished 13th in the NRL table, but failed to qualify for the play-offs for the tenth year in a row.

But, Maguire isn’t paying attention to the hearsay of him being the favourite to be sacked.

“I don’t pay too much attention to that,” Maguire said, per NRL.com.

“There are markets for coaches who have been at the top of the ladder too and it’s probably exactly the same.

“It’s all part of the game. For myself it’s about getting the players to start performing in a consistent matter. I enjoy the expectation with what comes with the job.”

Now, Wests Tigers hero Benji Marshall – who has returned to the club in an ambassadorial role – believes Maguire must simply win games.
