Former Warrington Wolves man Greg Inglis has landed a new coaching role in the game. Inglis, who is considered an NRL great and has a spot in the competition’s Hall of Fame, has taken up a position within Wests Tigers’ NRLW set-up.
Inglis has worked with the Tigers before as a mentor, but he will now join up with the Tigers’ women’s team as a specialist assistant coach. As such, he’ll be working with the club’s outside backs while also offering wisdom and support to other players and coaches within the organisation.
The 38-year-old joins the Tigers as they look to bounce back from what was a difficult 2024 campaign. Brett Kimmorley’s side picked up the wooden spoon last season, finishing bottom of the table after winning just two games all season.
They’ll hope to improve on that this year and the addition of Inglis might just be able to help them do that.
“Greg is a phenomenal addition to our coaching staff,” Kimmorley said per the NRL website. “His knowledge, leadership, and ability to connect with players are second to none.
“I have no doubt that he will have a profound impact on our squad as we build towards the upcoming season.
“Greg has finished an NRL coaching course, as well as attended our pathways education session, and the support from the club to continue to grow in the NRLW program is evident with this investment.”
Inglis spent most of his career in the NRL with his time being split between spells at Melbourne Storm and South Sydney Rabbitohs. He retired in 2019 but was coaxed back into the game by Super League side Warrington Wolves, who managed to get the former Australia international on board for the 2021 season.
Unfortunately his time in primrose and blue was short-lived with Inglis making three appearances and scoring two tries before injury forced him back into retirement.
