Ex-Warrington Wolves man given high profile shirt number at Wakefield Trinity in 2023

Tom Lineham has had a terrific career.

He started at Hull FC and made a real impression as a young winger and eventually earnt a move over to Warrington Wolves.

He helped the Wolves to the 2016 and 2018 Grand Finals as well as Challenge Cup Finals in those two seasons and in 2019.

He was superb in these successful seasons almost defeating St Helens by himself in the 2018 Super League semi-final including with a sublime winning try after he had devastated Leeds Rhinos in the Challenge Cup semi-final earlier that year as he showed his class.

However, as Daryl Powell joined the club ahead of 2022, Lineham was allowed to leave and joined Wakefield Trinity.

That said, he didn’t have the impact he wanted and left the club on loan.

But he is now back at Belle Vue for pre-season and is really catching the eye. He looks in great shape and is apparently one of the fastest at the club.

He gets along well with new coach Mark Applegarth and is ready for a huge season in 2023.

That has been reflected in his shirt number as the club confirmed he would be wearing the number five shirt in 2023.

It comes after Reece Lyne and Corey Hall were confirmed as the number four and three shirt holders respectively in 2023 as Wakefield’s first choice backline takes shape without star signing Samisoni Langi.

Lineham has beaten exciting youngster Lewis Murphy to the shirt number among others whilst Kyle Evans still looks set to leave the club.
