Ex-Warrington Wolves head coach Steve Price has been earning big raps Down Under.

The former St George Illawarra Dragons and Cronulla Sharks assistant took over the reins at Warrington in 2018 and earned a place in the Super League play-offs each year he was there.

Price also won the Challenge Cup with the Wolves in 2019, but moved on at the end of last year to join Craig Fitzgibbon as his number two at Cronulla.

Since then, the Sharks have impressed thoroughly with their hard-hitting defence reminiscent of a Price-inspired side.

“I’m really looking forward to working with Steve,” Fitzgibbon said before the season started.

“While we’ve known each other for some time, the opportunity to work together is an exciting one. The experiences he’s gathered and his love for the area and club were hard to ignore.

“I thought Steve’s experience in the NRL and in the Super League as a head coach, added to the fact he was an assistant in the 2016 Sharks premiership, would be an asset for myself, Josh and Daniel and we look forward to pushing each other and developing as a coaching team.”

Cronulla are now fourth on the NRL ladder with six wins from nine games and have won all five of their games at home this season.
