Ex-Super League star Josh Hodgson reacts to rumours of an immediate move from Canberra Raiders

Josh Hodgson has come out firing against the latest rumours that he could be leaving the Canberra Raiders for the 2022 season.

The English hooker had been linked with a move to the Newcastle Knights as a direct replacement for injured hooker Jayden Brailey, but Hodgson himself reveals that those claims are very wide of the mark.

“I’ve had more links than a gold chain recently”, Hodgson told The Daily Telegraph.

“There’s nothing in it, no.”

With Hodgson set to leave at the end of the 2022 season for pastures new at the Parramatta Eels, the number 9 is determined to leave on a high following a lengthy career in the Australian capital.

“Yeah of course, you always want to leave on a high and my ultimate goal is that you always want to win the competition,” Hodgson said.

“That’s what I’m striving for everyday when I come out here for training. When I’m training on my own at the gym or whatever I’m doing, it’s to try and make sure we are striving to win in it.”

The 32-year-old, who has played almost 150 games for the Raiders since leaving Hull KR for Canberra, was linked with a move to Wests Tigers for much of the off-season before that deal fell through.
