Ex-Super League referee Richard Silverwood calls out Chris Hill as he addresses controversial Richie Myler incident in Leeds Rhinos’ win over Huddersfield Giants

If there was one contentious issue in this week’s Super League already, we have found it.
Leeds Rhinos’ fixture against Huddersfield Giants last night was an incredible spectacle but it was marred by an incident in the last ten minutes.
Richie Myler was tackled by Huddersfield’s Chris Hill after catching a high ball but flicked his legs up in the tackle as the Giants man held on.
That led to Myler landing on his head/neck with referee Jack Smith sending Hill to the sinbin and giving a Leeds penalty.
Whilst most were fuming with the decision to sinbin Hill, former Super League referee Richard Silverwood called Hill out for his role in the incident.
Silverwood tweeted: “Lot of fuss over this. IMO it’s a surrender tackle by Myler. Hill drops on so Ref will call Surrender. Then a longer pause to a normal tackle, then calls Stand. At this point Myler digs his legs in and pushes up. Why doesn’t Hill let go? Hill does pull up so not all innocent.”
