Ex-Super League man stretchered off in NRL win as fears aired over playing future

Former Super League Grand Finalist, Siosiua Taukeiaho, could have potentially played the final game of his career after a nasty injury in the NRL earlier today.

Taukeiaho, who plays for the Manly Sea Eagles in the NRL, started on the bench in this morning’s game against Brisbane Broncos, a game that Manly would go on to win 32-4.

After taking to the field in the the 18th minute, the ex-Catalans Dragons man took an awkward hit shortly after the half-time break, and as a result he needed to be stretchered from the field.

Taukeiaho was actually injured in the act of scoring, and as the scrambling defenders attempted to make the tackle, the forward’s lower leg suffered the consequences.

Given the initial severity of the injury, and the fact that the former Dragon is now 34 and off-contract at the season’s end, it could mean that he has played his final professional game, something that he won’t want to be the case.

The commentators suggested as much, and that would be a big blow givne how well he has returned to the NRL after a two-year stint in Super League,  however he did only compete in one of those seasons.

Taukeiaho was part of Catalans’ Grand Final squad in 2023, and he has since revealed that he played that game on a broken foot, slamming Catalans for their lack of care when players got injured.

He returned to the NRL top flight in 2025, and the former Sydney Roosters man has featured for Manly on 25 occasions since then.
