Former Super League prop Siosiua Taukeiaho could be set to join Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, after being sacked by Catalans Dragons.
Taukeiaho was dismissed from the French club, alongside Damel Diakhate and Jayden Nikorima, who has since joined Salford Red Devils, in July.
Previously, he played 168 games for Sydney Roosters, where he won the Premiership in both 2018 and 2019.
He was a huge signing for the Dragons at the time, but his Super League career was marred by injuries.
He hasn’t yet found a new club himself, but it seems that this is about to change.
In 2023, he was close to a move to the Bulldogs, but it collapsed when he failed his medical due to a foot injury.
Now, after being spotted at their training ground, it looks like this move is back on, with head coach Cameron Ciraldo interested in the move, via The Daily Telegraph.
Taukeiaho swaps Super League for NRL: our verdict
If he can stay fit, this is surely a positive move for the Bulldogs, who this year qualified for the play-offs for the first time in eight years, where they fell at the first hurdle to rivals Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles.
The two-time Premiership winner is just 32 years old, and should have a few more seasons left in him.
He told The Daily Telegraph last year: “Wherever I end up, I believe I have a good two or three years left in me.
“I’ve won premierships at the Roosters and I think my experience can be helpful.
“I believe I’ve got more to offer in the NRL.”
Fellow prop Tom Amone has already joined them from Leigh Leopards – and this could be a formidable prop pairing in NRL for 2025.
