Debates will rage forever about who are the best players in Super League, especially as the rounds pass by.
But, when former St Helens and Great Britain stalwart Leon Pryce gives his view on who the best halfback is in the game, people look and listen.
As a pundit for Channel 4, Pryce was commentating on Warrington Wolves’ loss to a spirited Wakefield Trinity on Saturday afternoon.
And, midway through the game, Pryce – whose son Will is currently carving up the top flight with Huddersfield Giants – revealed who he thinks is the best halfback in Super League – and it may come as a surprise.
“George Williams is the most dangerous halfback in the competition,” Pryce said.
“He has a good kicking game, passing game and running game, so you never know what he’s going to do.
“His short kicking game is the best in the competition by far – Williams has got all the skills.
“He excelled at Wigan then went to Canberra and got even better and now he’s back in Super League with Warrington – he will be key to them winning silverware.”
Williams, however, could not help Warrington to victory over Wakefield with the West Yorkshire side inflicting a 38-22 defeat on the Cheshire club.
