Ex-St Helens star helped secure Warrington Wolves’ huge signing

Warrington Wolves have made a number of major signings going into 2023.

They have brought in Josh Drinkwater to complete a star studded spine as well as his two Catalans Dragons teammates Sam Kasiano and Gil Dudson.

Meanwhile, former Wigan Warriors and Leigh Leopards man Matty Russell returns to the club after a spell in France with Toulouse Olympique.

They have also signed two Australian internationals in the shape of 2017 Rugby League World Cup winner Josh McGuire and of course Paul Vaughan from Canterbury Bulldogs and he revealed that teammate and former St Helens man Luke Thompson helped convince him to make the move.

“He was pretty biased, which is understandable!” Vaughan told Sky Sports

“I had a fair few conversations with Thommo and he was really helpful with his advice and what he passed on.

“He was obviously at Saints and they’re a pretty strong club. You want to come up against those strong clubs nd see how you go, so it’s pretty exciting.”

Now, because of those conversations, Vaughan will come up against Thompson’s former club as the Wolves look to bounce back from a difficult season as they finished 11th in the league and even battled against relegation.

Vaughan and co could ensure a much better 2023.
