Ex-St Helens, Huddersfield and Castleford prop’s son signs with major rugby league agent

Remember the name Lukas Mason.

Son of former St Helens, Huddersfield Giants and Castleford Tigers prop Keith Mason, Lukas is making waves in the academy game, signing for Wigan Warriors at a scholarship level.

With a dad like Keith – who is currently making it big as a film star – there is little wonder that Lukas is thriving in an environment which has a perfect atmosphere for growth in physical, mental and emotional terms.

And, now Lukas has signed with a major rugby league agent – former Super League star and current Premier Sports pundit Kevin Brown who is part of the distinct rugby brand.

Keith posted on Instagram: “Another milestone met, my son @lukasmason69 signing with @distinctrugby and to be managed by my old teammate and good friend @kevjonbrown a very respected individual in the game of rugby league, who was a great professional and player. I played a big part of my professional career with Kev, and he’s someone who I believe can guide my son down the right pathway in chasing his dream to become an elite professional rugby league player.

One thing I learnt my son was to outwork your competition, and the rest will follow, proud of you son.”

Mason had previously spoken to Serious About Rugby League about his son Lukas’ route into the sport.

“He started playing at Clockface when he was 6 until 11 then he went to Orrell St James’ where he captained them,” Mason senior said.

“He was there until he was 14 and he’s played at Siddal RLFC from the under 14s and just won the 1st division champions.

“Wigan have been watching Lukas since playing at Rainford High from 11 – the now-Wigan coach Matty Peet, alongside John Jackson and Jack Roden spotted him.”

Congratulations to Lukas, with an attitude like he has on such young shoulders he is sure to leave his own mark on rugby league.
