A kicking game in rugby league is vital – whether short or long, it is key to getting field position and causing problems for the opposition’s defence.
For Leon Pryce, as a halfback, he knows all about kicking games and so when he talks about his expertise in the game, viewers’ ears prick up and listen.
The former Bradford Bulls, St Helens, Hull FC and Catalans Dragons playmaker was a pundit on Premier Sports to call Wigan Warriors’ home game against Salford Red Devils in the Challenge Cup Sixth Round.
And, he noted one player who has ‘the best kicking game in the competition’.
“Marc Sneyd has the ability to turn a game with his kicking game,” Pryce said.
“His short and long kicking game is pivotal to unlocking defences and for me he’s got the best kicking game in the competition.”
After seven years at Hull FC, Sneyd left East Yorkshire for Salford – his boyhood club.
The wily halfback had come through the ranks at the Red Devils before a loan spell at Castleford Tigers in 2014 kickstarted his career, helping the Tigers to the Challenge Cup Final and within 80 minutes of the League Leaders’ Shield.
A big-money move to Hull followed as he led the Black and Whites to consecutive Wembley successes.
