Super League is renowned for its brilliant atmospheres from stadium to stadium.

When recruits from Down Under come to play rugby league in the UK, the first things they tend to notice is the atmosphere at traditional grounds.

The likes of Castleford Tigers’ Jungle, Wakefield Trinity’s Belle Vue and Hull KR’s Craven Park may be decades old, but they often generate some of the greatest sounds in rugby league.

For former St Helens Grand Final winner and Salford Red Devils forward Mark Flanagan, one of those atmospheres sticks in his mind from his time as a player.

“Cas was one of my favourite away grounds,” Flanagan said on the Out Of Your League podcast.

“The sideline is here and the terrace is next to it and they are shouting at you and slagging you off.

“The atmosphere is absolutely brilliant.”

The guest on the podcast, Salford Red Devils captain Elijah Taylor, also agreed and loved his experience at the Jungle in the first game of the 2022 Super League season.

“I loved it!

“It was better than Leichardt Oval at the Wests Tigers, the crowd were chanting and it was awesome.”

Taylor also revealed that there is a difference in outside pressure from the NRL and Super League too.

“The pressure is a lot more back in the NRL, it’s the number one sport in Sydney, every night there is a show on Fox Sports.”
