Former St Helens star Regan Grace has signed for a new club after leaving Bath at the end of the 2024/2025 season.
Grace, who has been linked with a Super League return in late 2023, has left Premiership Rugby altogether and made the switch to the United Rugby Championship – a competition that encompasses teams from Ireland, Italy, Scotland, South Africa and of course, Grace’s native Wales.
He has joined one of the four Welsh clubs by signing with Cardiff on an initial six-month deal until the end of the season.
During his time in Super League, Grace was one of the competition’s most electric wingers and he tallied an impressive 88 tries in 142 games whilst with St Helens.
He would play in each of the 2019, 2020 and 2021 Grand Finals but suffered a season-ending injury in 2022 with that injury hampering the start of his career in rugby union.
Grace, who initially signed with Racing 92, ended up not playing a single game for the French outfit before moving to Bath in April last year. Since then, his career has found some stability and the ex-St Helens star has now returned to his native Wales by signing with Cardiff.
Ex-St Helens star Regan Grace signs with Wales ahead of Six Nations
Grace, who earned a call-up to represent Wales and scored on debut last year, was announced as a Cardiff signing with immediate effect yesterday.
Speaking to club media about the move, Grace said: “I’ve always been excited about Cardiff – it’s a big, historical club and a lot of legends have played here.
“Coming back to play on home soil has also always been something I have wanted to do, so to do that in the capital city is a great opportunity.
“I’m very much aware of all the dual-code legends who have played for, or come through, Cardiff, so to follow in those footsteps is pretty cool.”
With the Six Nations looming, hitting the ground fast will be key for Grace if he is to harbour any ambitions to represent Wales at the tournament. Cardiff have confirmed that he is available for selection ‘immediately’ with the club taking on Perpignan on Saturday.
Cardiff Rugby head coach, Matt Sherratt said: “We’re really pleased to bring Regan to the club, he is a great addition, in a position where we needed reinforcement.
“He is obviously an incredibly exciting player but he is also a really good person and professional. Everyone we have spoken to, could not have spoken highly enough of Regan.
“He impressed during the summer with Wales and we are excited to see what he can achieve as he continues his transition to union within our environment.”

What is this doing in here? As a rugby league fan does anyone want a blow by blow account of my recent trip to Lidl, or the new socks I bought myself online this afternoon “. Of course you don’t, I don’t blame you. The same reason I don’t come here to read about Hull City or such. I have negative interest in union, I find its history of abuse, class oppression, active support of racism, collaboration with the Nazis, and more repeloent and disgusting, it’s a sport I want nothing to do with. My kids weren’t allowed to participate in Union related activities, to the annoyance of the teachers, the overwhelming support of the caretaker who coached locally. I really don’t expect to read union stories here.
