It’s been a busy few days in the Championship in terms of recruitment, with several clubs adding Super League experience to their ranks, be that on loan or permanently.
Starting off with some permanent deals, former Leeds, Wigan and Castleford prop Brad Singleton has found a new club after being released from the Tigers in May.
He has joined Cumbrian side Barrow Raiders, as the 33-year-old returns to his boyhood club on a deal until the end of the season.
Singleton has made over 300 career appearances since his debut in 2011, and is looking forward to a new challenge closer to home.
Singleton told the club website: “Me and Cresta [head coach Paul Crarey] have always had a great relationship, and with me and my family moving back home and me stepping away from Super League, it just felt right to finish here.”
“Barrow means a lot to me. I love the community, I love what the club stands for, and I know what rugby means to this town.”
Also on the move is ex-St Helens man Jake Spedding, who has swapped North Wales Crusaders for Salford RLFC.
The 29-year-old made four Super League appearances for the Red Vee, and has since gone on to play for Sheffield, Barrow, Widnes and Swinton before joining the Crusaders at the start of 2025.

Wigan Warriors quartet make Championship loan move
Moving on to short-term deals and Wigan pair Jonny Vaughan and Josh Cartwright have both joined Keighley Cougars on one-week loans.
Keighley take on Goole Vikings at the weekend, and are looking to get back in the winners’ circle after four straight losses, including a 74-0 defeat to Newcastle last time out.
In addition, Lukas Mason has joined Halifax Panthers for the week, whilst Nathan Lowe has returned to Salford RLFC on loan after previously featuring for them in round three.
Also on the move is Huddersfield Giants outside back Connor Carr, who has joined Dewsbury Rams on loan for the rest of the season.
