Ex-Salford Red Devils & Wigan Warriors star breaks silence on move

Jackson Hastings has confirmed his fifth club in six seasons this morning.

Hastings leaves the Wests Tigers after one year to join the Newcastle Knights for the 2023 season.

Hastings is well loved in the UK. He made the move to Super League mid way through 2018 joining Salford Red Devils helping them fend off relegation prior to guiding them to the Grand Final in 2019 as he won the Man of Steel award.

In 2020, he picked up a deserved piece of silverware as Wigan Warriors won the League Leaders’ Shield in his first season at the DW Stadium.

The Cherry and Whites were unfortunately beaten in the Grand Final against St Helens. In 2021, after two seasons at Wigan, Hastings joined Wests Tigers on a two-year deal but has left after just one season due to the fact Newcastle Knights were striving for a halfback whilst Wests wanted a middle forward culminating in a swap deal with David Klemmer going the other way and Luke Brooks being settled as the Tigers’ number seven for 2023.

It’s been a bold move from all parties and certainly divisive with some Wests fans devastated to see Hastings leave after he was one of the few bright sparks in a tough season for the club.

Now Hastings has opened up on the move for the first time.

He said on Twitter: “Thanks for the year guys, nothing but love. Wish you nothing but success in the future, forever tiger 251.”

So Hastings has now ill feelings towards the club but is set to shine at Newcastle in 2023 and beyond.
