Ex-Salford Red Devils and Warrington Wolves star will not be returning to Super League

It’s not long since Ben Murdoch-Masila was shining in Super League.

The powerful forward made his name in Super League with Salford Red Devils.

He started his career with Wests Tigers in the NRL prior to a move to the Penrith Panthers making 58 NRL appearances prior to joining Salford.

It is forgotten how good the Red Devils were at the beginning of 2017 finishing in the top four in Super League prior to the Super 8s but in the end Salford slipped down the league.

This was largely down to Murdoch-Masila’s form at Salford which saw Warrington Wolves make a move for the forward and he made a big impression joining New Zealand Warriors for 2021 after helping the Wolves to Challenge Cup Final glory in 2019 having played in the 2018 Challenge Cup and Grand Finals.

After two seasons with the Warriors prior to talk that he would be making the move to the NRL’s newest club The Dolphins under former St Helens boss Kristian Woolf and ex-England boss Wayne Bennett.

However, rumours then started that Catalans Dragons were reportedly chasing the prop as a replacement for Dylan Napa who was released by the Dragons yesterday after being told along side now Warrington Wolves bound halfback Josh Drinkwater that they could leave the club but with no suitors, Napa was released.

The Dragons were said to be in negotiations with Murdoch-Masila over a move to replace Napa according to French publication L’Independant.

He has now been released from his deal with the Warriors, as the club confirmed he has taken up a long term contract elsewhere.

They also confirmed that the prop was headed to another NRL club rather than a return to Super League.
