Tries are what we come and watch rugby league for.
They are the main source of entertainment and we are always on the look out for a brilliant try, an effort where a team is able to go from one end of the field to the other, an innovative piece of skill, a series of offloads, a darting run or a barge over the top of a defender.
This is why fans were left outraged when a try was chalked off last night as Hull FC defeated Wakefield Trinity.
The try didn’t matter as the ball was batted by Tom Lineham from a short kick-off and was taken by Jake Clifford who rushed to the try line for what seemed like a lovely try and a brilliant way tl wrap up the win for Hull FC but it was disallowed much to the bemusement and outrage of plenty of fans.
However, former official Richard Silverwood has defended the decision claiming that the right decision was indeed reached by the officials because it is not where your feet are when the ball is touch but if the ball has travelled the full 10 metres and he claimed that it hadn’t gone the full 10.
“It’s the ball that has to go 10m not where your feet are.
It's the ball that has to go 10m not where your feet are 🙉

“That’s the rule.
“Referee is in line and deems the ball isn’t 10 when Lineham touches it. Feet past 10m is irrelevant.”
He also hit out at Sky Sports pundits for not knowing the rules:
“Poor from Sky Sports. Know the rules Brian, Jon and JJB fellas. Criticise officials if you wish but not on a point of law that they got right but comes down to opinion on the ball travelling 10m not where is feet are.”

This came after the trio mentioned said that the try should have stood.
