Ex official claims controversial yellow card was WRONG

On Friday night, Hull KR helped their play-off hopes with a win over Wakefield Trinity.

During the game Catalans Dragons loanee at Hull KR Fouad Yaha clattered Max Jowitt with a harsh but fair tackle that the officials deemed a little too harsh, sending him for 10 minutes.

It was this tackle that has outraged a few fans.

Speaking on social media, former official disagreed with the decision.

He said: “I think it’s not a yellow however due to the bans and fines given out lately for any borderline head contact I can see why the ref aired on the side of caution and binned him.

“See what the MRP do. They may grade it and therefore he was right in his action.

“I’m sure they will review all foul play and discuss what is or isn’t a sin bin/send off especially with all the fines and bans being imposed by the MRP.”

He went on to concede that it is harder for officials now with a bigger focus on foul play.

He said:

“I think it is harder now, we could allow more biff and players generally got on with it.”

Smith’s take on the matter was the same but less harsh than Richard Silverwood who described it as “pathetic” and said “the game will be gone very soon.”
