Ex-NRL star commits to Halifax Panthers by signing new long-term deal

Former NRL man David Nofoaluma has committed his future to Championship club Halifax Panthers by signing a new deal. Nofoaluma has agreed a new two-year deal, which will see him remain at The Shay until the end of the 2027 season.

The Samoa and Serbia international joined the Panthers on a short-term deal until the end of the 2025 season back in May. In the months that followed, he made 15 appearances for Halifax, with six tries coming along the way.

That try tally includes a brace against Hunslet, while he also scored in the 40-4 demolition of Oldham in the first round of the Championship play-offs in September.

As such, securing Nofoaluma’s services for another two years comes as a big boost for the Panthers as they strive to build on what was a positive season on the field under head coach Kyle Eastmond.

“Firstly, I want to say thank you to everyone involved in sorting this deal,” the 31-year-old said, per the Panthers’ official website. “I came to the Halifax Panthers mid year and I finished the season with much more including a great relationship with Kyle, the staff, my teammates and the Halifax supporters and community who have made feel welcomed which I am honoured and grateful for.

“It’s now time to focus on what’s ahead which is building stronger connections and an environment where every member of this team become better players and more importantly better people.”

Nofoaluma spent 10 years in the ranks at Wests Tigers, making 192 appearances and scoring 100 tries before moving on to join Salford Red Devils in 2024. His time at Salford was short lived though, making just two appearances before returning to Australia and signing with Glebe Dirty Reds.

He made the switch to France in December last year, signing with Pia before joining Fax earlier this year in May.
