A former NRL star who failed to hit the heights in Super League has signed for a new club in the Northern Hemisphere.
After his last-minute Super League move failed to work out, former Wests Tigers star David Nofoaluma has signed with a new club in France.
The winger will likely go down as one of the biggest Super League flops, a harsh but accurate label given the disparity between his profile and performance level.
Despite that, he’s signed with French Elite One side Pia Donkeys with the club confirming his signature ahead of this past weekend, when he made his debut for the club.
Nofoaluma was thrown straight into the action for new club Pia as they hosted Saint-Esteve Catalans, a feeder team for Catalans Dragons, but the new recruit couldn’t help guide Pia to a win as they lost 24-22.
Former Super League man signs with French side
David Nofoaluma made the switch to join Salford Red Devils very late in the window with the winger’s deal being announced on the week of the 2024 Super League season launch.
It was a signing that came with a lot of noise given his NRL exploits, scoring 100 times in 192 appearances for Wests.
He could not replicate that form at Salford as he played just two games for the club before going completely off the radar, almost as if he had never signed for the Super League club.
Reports of his exit arose but no official confirmation came from the club, however, he shortly signed Down Under for the Glebe Dirty Reds, a feeder club for the Sydney Roosters.
The Dirty Reds won the Ron Massey Cup Grand Final with Nofoaluma scoring twice but he’s now returned to Europe. Unfortunately, he couldn’t make the difference on debut as Pia lost with a few other former Super League names starring.
Hakim Miloudi and Harrison Hanson also played, as did ex-London Broncos man Ethan Natoli whilst Saint Esteve saw lots of young Catalans Dragons players feature, including Tanguy Zenon, Loan Castano and Guillermo Aispuro-Bichet.
Pia had announced Nofoaluma’s signing via their social media.
