Ex-Leeds Rhinos star makes huge James Roby claim

Legendary Australian commentator Andrew Voss has paid tribute to James Roby after he captained St Helens to the World Club Challenge down under.

He said on Fox Sports: “James Roby, if that is the last time we see you play in Australia, then well done to you sir.

“It was a privilege to watch you play live.”

He also praised Jack Welsby who is wanted by plenty of NRL clubs:

“What a scrap book this kid has? A three time Grand Final winner, a Challenge Cup Final winner, an England international and now a try scorer in the World Club Challenge.

“He has some talent this kid. He played at five-eighth in the World Cup because Jonny Lomax was injured and his battle with Jarome Luai was something special.”

Now former Leeds Rhinos Grand Final winner against Roby no less and former Australia and New South Wales skipper Danny Buderus has praised Roby claiming that he is Super League’s greatest of all time despite playing with the likes of Kevin Sinfield and Jamie Peacock.

He said:

“What a win! Congrats to St Helens, Paul Wellens and Super league. Roby is King GOAT. What a performance.”

Today’s win really does edge him closer to being cemented as the greatest of all time.

It remains to be seen whether he can add title number seven to his record this year.
