Yesterday, ex-Leeds Rhinos man Jack Broadbent starred on debut for Castleford Tigers.

Playing out of position in the halves alongside fellow new signing Jacob Hookem, Broadbent scored a lovely try.

The Tigers may have lost but the young side showed their potential as Broadbent emphasised to Tigers TV after the game:

“I think we gave a really good account of ourselves and the senior players did really well and gave some good advice and the young players did really well against a side that will be competing at the top of the Championship, so we did really well.”

He was given the role of leading the side as well:

“It was good, Lasty put some emphasis on us to lead by example and take them with us, I really enjoyed it. It was a good game to be a part of.”

He was very pleased with the try he scored as well as he announced himself in the perfect way:

“It wasn’t a bad one, I saw a lazy middle – he won’t like me saying that – but I was able to get through. I really enjoyed it.”

However, as he announced himself to the Tigers he was getting stick from his former fans at Featherstone:

“They were giving me a bit, the rivalry is really good. They’re really close but I don’t mind it, it eggs you on a bit and you want to play a bit better.”
