Ex-Leeds Rhinos duo impress according to Andy Last as do ex-Hull FC men

Castleford Tigers may have lost to Featherstone Rovers in the final game of 2022, Andy Last was pleased with proceedings as the young Tigers battled hard against the Rovers.

A young Tigers team, Last praised the senior players including young ex-Leeds Rhinos duo Jack Broadbent and Alex Sutcliffe as well as former Hull FC duo Mahe Fonua and Bureta Faraimo.

He said on Tigers TV:

“I challenged the senior boys to help the younger lads. Their motivation wouldn’t have been the same but they will have wanted to make a good account of themselves and for those young lads to be inspired by.

“Daniel Smith as captain, Jack Broadbent and Alex Sutcliffe did some good stuff, Mahe Fonua and Bureta Faraimo had some good touches and came with some good energy and that was good for those young blokes to see and they brought energy which the senior boys fed off.”

As he further emphasised how he was impressed by Broadbent, who was playing in a different role to his natural positions as he filled in the halves, Last praised his halfback partner young signing Jacob Hookem too:

“I thought Jacob Hookem did some good stuff, kicked well, kicked early. He turned them around, Jack Broadbent what he will bring to us.”
