Ex-Leeds halfback to make move to Australia

Rugby League mistake

Former Leeds Rhinos academy star Joe Sanderson will move to Australia in 2020 after signing with New South Wales Group 9 side Albury Thunder.

The 22-year-old starred for the Rhinos at academy level, building up a reputation for his kicking game, both in-play and off the tee.

He has spent the past three season with Hunslet, scoring over 500 points in 56 games, whilst also having a short spell on loan at Coventry in 2019.

He combined his playing commitments with his role as a Rugby League Development Officer for the Leeds Rhinos Foundation but will now make the move down under to play for an Albury team that also includes former Bradford favourite Adrian Purtell.

In a post on Instagram, Sanderson said: “Can’t wait for the next chapter down under! Excited and ready for the challenge!”
