Former Hull KR man academy player Harvey Reynolds has agreed to a new deal with RFL Championship side York Knights ahead of the 2025 season.
The 20-year-old joined the club in November 2023 from Hull KR and went on to make 12 appearances across the course of the 2024 campaign for the Knights with four of those in the starting lineup.
He signed alongside young half-back Jack Potter also from KR, while Francis Coggle from Castleford Tigers was also announced at the same time.
Reynolds made his debut in an 1895 Cup win against Newcastle Thunder in the opening game of 2024, scoring a try in a huge 144-10 win.
He would also make two appearances for their opponents that day as he joined Thunder and played for them during their League 1 campaign.
When he was signed in 2023, Reynolds said: “Hendo (former head coach Andrew Henderson) sold it to me really.
“I really like the direction of the Club, the way its going…I think it’s a great opportunity for me to develop as a player…I can’t wait to get started.”
It certainly was an opportunity to develop, as he made his first-ever senior appearances in 2024, and next year there are a whole host of players he can learn from playing alongside.
One of those is Castleford Tigers modern-day legend Paul McShane, who has signed for next year as well as players such as Jacob Gannon.
Ex-Hull KR man agrees deal with York Knights: reaction
Knights head coach Mark Applegarth said, via a club statement: “Harvey Reynolds is a player that excites me.
“He’s a very quiet lad away from rugby but get him on the field and he lets his actions do the talking.
“He’s a young kid finding his feet and I think he’s got a big future ahead of him. I’m delighted he’s at York for 2025.”
The Knights have set about building a very strong squad for the 2025 season with a handful of other former Super League youngsters from Hull FC and Hull KR also joining, the latest to follow in the path that Reynolds has taken.
A high IMG score for the Championship outfit has potentially made them a destination that players are attracted to with the Knights scoring 12.42, ranking 15th. That saw them labelled as a ‘standout’ by RL Commercial’s Rhodri Jones.
