Ex-Hull FC man explains surprise move after Super League release

London Broncos new signing Liam Tindall

London Broncos’ latest signing is moving down south for the first time in his career.

Winger Liam Tindall has opened up about why he’s chosen London as his next destination and what to expect from him in the 2025 season.

The 23-year-old has been a free agent since the end of the 2024 season after leaving Hull FC.

He joins the Broncos following his release from the Black and Whites and has secured the number five shirt.

Speaking to the club’s media, Tindall said: “It all came about pretty quick, to be honest.

“Mike (Eccles, director of rugby) got in touch with me about two to three weeks ago, expressed his interest with my agent and things moved pretty quickly from there.

“Then, two weeks later, I saw myself moving down here and I’m here full-time now,” he added.

Tindall admits that it will be a challenge moving down south but is excited to kickstart his career again.

He said: “I sort of experienced a move away from home when I was in Hull.

“Obviously, it’s not as far but moving down, it’s not something that comes easy and I’ve got friends, family and my girlfriend back home.

“It will be hard to be down here and away from them but I think it’s a good opportunity for me to focus on my rugby and really get myself going in my career,” he added.

His first impressions have been nothing but positive at London Broncos so far and he feels that Eccles is the right coach to help him navigate the next stage of his career.

Tindall continued: “I thought Mike was a real good coach, a proven coach who can really develop players really well.

“I feel like I’m at that stage of my career where I need a lot of game time, I need a lot of development and I just thought it was a really good match.

“The club’s got a point to prove, I’ve got a point to prove and I feel like we match pretty well together,” he continued.

He did admit that it was tough being released from Hull but he was glad he was able to have some pre-season training with Brian Noble.

He added: “I haven’t been training with a club since the back end of December but I have been making sure that I’m ready for whatever comes up.

“I am in a good state right now and I’m ready to go when the opportunity arises.

“I had the opportunity to train with Bradford at the back end of last year that I’m really grateful for and put me in good stead going forward.”

Tindall started his career at Leeds Rhinos, his hometown club, and spent time on loan at Doncaster and Bradford as well as at Hull FC.

He’s hoping that experience will help the Broncos in their 2025 Championship campaign and aims to prove his worth in this new squad.

He added: “I described myself to be hard-working and powerful.

“My work ethic’s good in games and I can really help teams and hopefully swing momentum in games and get those carries out of the back field and help the team that way.”
