Super League hopefuls Widnes Vikings have announced the signing of ex-Hull FC man Jordan Abdull for the 2026 season.
Abdull has signed a one-year deal with the Vikings with the club having the option to extend that deal by a further year.
The half-back has been out of the game since being released by Hull FC in pre-season, just a couple of months after returning to the club where his career started.
The Black and Whites’ decision came with Abdull struggling for fitness over the winter period having picked up an injury which would have seen him miss the start of the Super League season.
Abdull will hope to have benefited mentally and physically from a year out of the game and he’ll be keen to hit the ground running and rediscover the type of form that saw him pick up an England cap and make it onto the 2021 Man of Steel shortlist.
Those heights came while shining in the colours of Hull KR, while Abdull also counts Catalans Dragons and London Broncos as former clubs.
Jordan Abdull signs for Widnes Vikings
“I’m really excited for a new challenge,” Abdull told the Widnes Vikings website. “I’ve had 12 months to rest my body and rest my mind. I just want to get back to enjoying what I do, and that is playing rugby.
“After speaking with Allan on a number of occasions, it’s the aspirations of the club that excited me the most. We all have the same dream, which is to be playing in Super League again, so I think it’s a really good fit.
“I’m looking forward to getting into it and meeting all the fans. I can guarantee that I’ll put my best foot forward for the club.”

Head coach Allan Coleman said: “It’s a fantastic signing for the club. If you just look at his career and what he’s done, you can see the value he’s going to add.
“His kicking game is as good as anybody’s, and he’s someone who always wants his hands on the ball. He’s a big body for a half, who will provide a real run threat.
“It’s a massive coup for us given his pedigree. He’s played for England and been nominated for the Man of Steel, so that just shows the quality of player we’re getting here.”
