Ex-Hull FC and Castleford Tigers man finds new club after 2024 release

Former Castleford Tigers and Wakefield Trinity man Jacob Miller has signed for a new club at the start of the 2025 season. The half-back, who left Castleford at the end of the season, a year before the end of his contract with the club, has agreed to join local New South Wales outfit Mullumbimby Giants.

Miller will pull on the yellow and blue after calling time on his professional career in England and returning to Australia. Mullumbimby play in the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League competition, with the town situated on the coast, marginally south of the Queensland border.

The half-back represented the Giants as a junior and was even part of a Premiership win while representing the club’s under-18s back in 2007. As such, it’s a move that sees Miller go full circle in his career as a rugby league player, ending it where it all started.

Milller spent much of his professional career in England, initially making the move to join Hull FC in 2013 after struggling for game time with NRL club Wests Tigers as a youngster. He struggled to produce his best in a black and white shirt, though, and left the club to join Wakefield Trinity at the end of the 2014 Super League season. He made 24 appearances for Hull, scoring six tries.

It was at Belle Vue where his career really started to gain traction, with the half-back finding his feet and making a home for himself in West Yorkshire. In seven years at Wakefield, he made 200 appearances and was a real crowd favourite before he made the decision to join Castleford Tigers ahead of the 2023 season.

Miller failed to shine in what as a struggling side as Castleford finished 11th in 2023, four points above relegation, before claiming 10th last time around. His time with the club came to end in autumn, with the half-back making 52 appearances and scoring six tries.

He was most recently seen representing United Sporting Club in the Premier League Nines that took place in January.
