Ex-Huddersfield Giants star Dom Young and former Castleford Tigers man Bailey Hodgson’s futures revealed

It’s been a case in recent years of more younger Super League players – or those that have hardly established themselves in the UK top flight – have made the move to the NRL.

Dom Young is perhaps the best example of that, having played just a handful of Super League games for Huddersfield Giants before making the move to the other side of the world with Newcastle Knights.

The same is true of former Castleford Tigers fullback Bailey Hodgson who played just once under Daryl Powell before signing for the Knights in the NRL.

Harry Rushton is now at the Canberra Raiders whilst Will Pryce and Kai Pearce-Paul have been linked with big moves to the Knights, too.

With a World Cup looming around the corner it will be interesting to see if Young gets a gig following such an impressive season in a dismal Newcastle year so far.

But, looking further beyond that, there is no surprise that the long-haired rangy winger is being touted as one of the most sought-after in the NRL with his incredible pace and finishing ability right up there with the best already.

The Knights, determined to keep hold of their best stars, are reportedly in talks to sign Young for the long-term asĀ Newcastle Herald journalist Barry Toohey has revealed.

Whilst talks over a new contract could ensure Young’s bright future at the club, Hodgson’s future is currently up in the air long-term following a series of shocking injuries.

However, Toohey did also revealed that the young fullback is contracted to the Knights for 2023 and will be going nowhere as it stands.

Hodgson is, of course, nephew of NRL stalwart Josh Hodgson who is out for the season following a devastating injury at the beginning of the year.
