Ex-Huddersfield Giants man still in “hot demand” as future remains unclear

Since he burst onto the scene in the Rugby League World Cup, there has been plenty of talk about Dom Young only further sparking interest from other clubs in the NRL.

The former Huddersfield Giants man stirred up talk about his quality when he devastated Fiji in Shaun Wane’s warm-up clash prior to signing a world class brace against Samoa in the opening game of the tournament.

On the back of a superb NRL season as he scored tries for fun for Newcastle Knights after a season developing in 2021, this shot Young into the headlines.

There was plenty of interest in Young before this, but this exponentially increased as he shone in the World Cup scoring four tries in 40 minutes against Greece after a 100 metre try against France.

Serious About Rugby League previously revealed that the likes of The Dolphins, Melbourne Storm and the Canberra Raiders had an interest in him alongside five Sydney based clubs.

On November 1st, he entered the last 12 months of his current deal allowing other clubs to negotiate with him.

However, according to the Newcastle Herald, his current club the Newcastle Knights are set to make a big play to secure his services moving forward.

They could offer around $400,000 to lock up the winger and talks have been furthered between the Knights and Young and his management.

That said, the Daily Telegraph is reporting that his future is still unclear with the young winger in “hot demand” still and with nine clubs still chasing him yet no decision has been made on his future.

Serious About Rugby League understands that it is unlikely to be decided any time soon.

That’s because Young won’t be back until 28th December. This could therefore delay any decision until after Christmas.
