This week Castleford Tigers surprised the rugby league world when they parted company with Lee Radford after only three games.
A sudden decision, it begs the question do the Tigers fear that they could be in a relegation scrap especially now that only them and Wakefield Trinity remain winless.
Speaking after the decision was made to Serious About Rugby League, a former player and someone who worked with Lee Radford had his say on whether the Tigers are in a relegation battle.
That man was James Clare and he said: “No, I don’t think so. If you look at last year’s start they lost four games and they turned it around and were within one game of the playoffs. So, no I don’t think they’re in a relegation battle.
“Saying that I don’t think there’s any team that’s actually safe. It’s probably the most even Super League in a few years. You’ve got two or three to teams that are definitely going to be up there.
“It used to be that there was a top four, a middle four and a bottom four and I feel like this year it’s become a top four and then a bottom or middle eight now. Or a middle six or seven, there’s only one or two that you could say are going to be definitely around the bottom.
“It’s not that traditional top four, middle four or bottom four anymore.”
