Six Super League teams are considered to be odds-on to claim a spot in next season’s play-offs.
The 2025 Super League season is still two months away but bookmakers are already starting to look ahead to the new campaign. Odds lists have been published on the winners of next season’s League Leaders’ Shield and Grand Final and who will finish bottom of the table.
However, Betfred now have prices that give us an idea about who they believe will claim a top six spot in the 2025 season and it comes as no surprise to see 2024 quadruple winners Wigan Warriors sitting on top of the pile with the shortest odds of just 1/50 to claim a play-off spot.
The Warriors were by far the best side in the Northern Hemisphere last time around and it would take something hugely out of the ordinary for them to miss out on a top six place next season.
Warrington Wolves and St Helens are joint-second in the list with both clubs being priced at 1/12 to finish inside the top six. That’s despite Paul Wellens’ side going close to missing out on the play-offs in 2024 before eventually securing sixth in the league table.
Warrington, on the other hand, finished third last year and will quite rightly have their eyes on silverware in what will be Sam Burgess’ second season as head coach.
Last season’s beaten Grand Finalists Hull KR are at 1/6 and are considered firm candidates for the top six. Leeds Rhinos missed out last time around but as Brad Arthur gears up for his first full season at Headingley, it seems they are fancied for the play-offs.
They’re fifth in the list at 5/6, while Catalans Dragons are the final odds-on team at 10/11 despite finishing seventh last time around.
Adrian Lam’s Leigh Leopards have had a huge turnover in personnel over the off-season and the bookies have them at seventh in the list at 6/4, while Salford Red Devils, who finished fourth in 2024 are at 9/4.
Huddersfield Giants and Hull FC have their work cut out, it’s fair to say, and they’re at 5/2 to make the knockout stages of the competition, while Castleford Tigers and newly promoted Wakefield Trinity are even further back at 5/1 with Betfred.
