Rugby League Super League ball

A further two pre-season friendlies featuring Super League sides have been confirmed so we’ve listed every such game announced so far.

Pre-season training is well under way with the first pre-season fixture ahead of the 2025 season actually having already taken place.

Bradford Bulls hosted Keighley Cougars yesterday (Sunday, 22nd December) with the West Yorkshire rivals being the first rugby league clubs to go at it following the conclusion of the 2024 campaign. The Bulls eased past their neighbours with a 26-0 win.

That game tees fans up nicely for a further two games on Boxing Day, two more all-Yorkshire affairs as Batley Bulldogs and Dewsbury Rams go at it but the all-Super League affair between Leeds Rhinos and Wakefield Trinity will catch the eye of many.

Looking beyond those games and towards 2025, the dates for two more pre-season games involving Super League teams have recently been confirmed.

Wigan Warriors confirmed that their game against Oldham would be played on January 19th with Matt Peet’s side slated to play Leeds Rhinos a week later in Ash Handley’s testimonial game.

The other game involving a Super League side confirmed in the past few days sees Salford Red Devils take on Championship outfit Barrow Raiders, although it’s likely to primarily be reserve team players according to the Red Devils.

They announced that they will travel to face Barrow on January 18th with the game being an opportunity for supporters to: “see some of the faces of the future, and potentially members of the first team,” per their statement.

Other standout pre-season games include Hull KR face York Knights in Amsterdam whilst Castleford Tigers take on Valencia Huracanes in Spain.
