It’s almost the end of the Super League season and with that comes end of year awards and we’ve picked each club’s player of the year.
A number of Super League clubs have already held their award evenings with Jake Connor among the latest to scoop the prize of player of the year at Leeds Rhinos’ event on Monday.
Hull KR will hold theirs this coming weekend but we’ve had our own go at picking each club’s player of the season.
The criteria is simple in that players must be at the club that they get nominated for, which means that there are very few Salford Red Devils players to pick from. Players such as Jack Ormondroyd, who had been among their most consistent performers, are not considered, given their departures.
Some clubs have clear standouts, whereas others are harder to pick, but here are Serious About Rugby League’s player of the year for every Super League club.

Who is your Super League club’s player of the year?
Catalans Dragons – Oliver Partington
A disappointing season for Catalans Dragons and as such, there aren’t too many standout options but one player who has consistently turned up is Oliver Partington.
He’s turned up each week defensively, sitting third in Super League for the most tackles with 924 or an average of just over 40 per game. That sort of grit will stand Catalans in good stead for their 2026 rebuild with Partington set to be a key player in the pack.
Castleford Tigers – Alex Mellor
Another club with a torrid season but Alex Mellor has been head and shoulders above any of his teammates with the second-rower a model professional. Playing in all bar one game, he’s led from the front and will be at the heart of the club’s 2026 rebuild.
Huddersfield Giants – George Flanagan Jr
Having scooped our rookie of the year award for Huddersfield, Flanagan also claims the player of the year with the young full-back making huge strides in a struggling Huddersfield side. He offers excitement whenever he gets on the ball, has been reliable at the back, and has been solid from the kicking tee.
Hull FC – Zak Hardaker
A host of players could claim this award at Hull FC with Aidan Sezer, Herman Ese’ese and Lewis Martin unlucky to miss out, but Hardaker has just been sensational wherever he has played. Used all across the backline, in the halves and in the forward pack as well, the former Man of Steel winner has been one of the signings of the season.
Hull KR – Jez Litten
Mikey Lewis looked destined for this award given how he started the year and with 47 try contributions, he is unlucky to miss out but Jez Litten has been the epitome of consistency. He’s had to adapt his game given the injury to Micky McIlorum but the Robins hooker has stepped up another level and now looks a favourite for an Ashes gig.
Leeds Rhinos – Jake Connor
Questions were asked and eyebrows raised over the signing of Jake Connor but he’s silenced any critics with one of the finest seasons for a Super League playmaker. His 30 assists are second only to Lachlan Lam but he offers so much more than just try-making, his generalship around the park and clutch moments have made him the Man of Steel favourite and rightly so.
Leigh Leopards – Lachlan Lam
As referenced, Lam is the only player to have more assists that Jake Connor and it’s not even close. The Papua New Guinean playmaker has 40 assists and has played every game, showcasing his reliability. Umyla Hanley, Owen Trout and Isaac Liu have all been brilliant in 2025 but Lam being directly involved in over 40% of their tries highlights his important.
Salford Red Devils – Nathan Connell
With so many players having left Salford, it’s slim pickings and whilst Justin Sangare has ended the season strong, Nathan Connell has consistently turned up and put his best foot forward. The 22-year-old has brilliant feet and proven to be good under the high ball with a number of Super League clubs surely keeping tabs depending on Salford’s future.
St Helens – Morgan Knowles
Along with Jake Connor, Knowles’ selection was one of the easiest with the NRL-bound forward having his best year yet in a Saints jersey. They’ve missed him so much in these past two games after his HIA with the tough-tackling loose forward genuinely a top three player in Super League this year.
Wakefield Trinity – Mike McMeeken
Perhaps unlucky on Mason Lino who has been brilliant in 2025, but Lino wouldn’t have a platform to play off if the forward pack didn’t do their job and McMeeken has been one of the best at doing that. He’s got to be in the England squad for the Ashes with the former Catalans man dominant at times this season.
Warrington Wolves – Josh Thewlis
Josh Thewlis is one of the few Warrington players to have consistently performed with the winger a standout, alongside his brother, in an otherwise poor Wire side. Eleven tries and almost 100 metres per game, Thewlis has actually improved as the season’s gone on which can’t be said for many Warrington players.
Wigan Warriors – Jai Field
With or without Bevan French on the pitch, Jai Field has been exceptional with the Wigan full-back leading Super League for tries and sitting eleventh on metres made with over 3,000. His gamebreaking ability is highlighted by his 27 clean breaks, second in Super League whilst 20 assists show that he’s more than just a try-scorer.
