Ahead of the 2025 Super League season, we’ve looked at the player every club should be prioritising for a new contract.
The rules around contract negotiations have changed in Super League with teams now able to negotiate with players from rival clubs from December 1st, as opposed to the previous deadline of May.
As such, that means that every player in Super League without a contract for the 2026 season is currently available to negotiate with.
Among that list of over 100 players are internationals, Dream Team members, new signings and stars of the future. We’ve gone through every Super League side and picked out the player that they must attempt to tie down before any rival swoops in.
Every Super League side’s biggest off-contract star
Castleford Tigers
There’s a new regime at the Jungle and Danny McGuire has a mixed bag of off-contract players for 2025 with a host of senior stars and others who are yet to prove themselves in Cas colours. Will Tate would likely be the man to prioritise at the moment with the 22-year-old versatile back possibly full of promise, although a lack of game time does make it hard to commit to him yet.
Full off-contract list: George Griffin, Josh Hodson, Luke Hooley, George Lawler, Rowan Milnes, Sylvester Namo, Josh Simm, Will Tate, Liam Watts, Joe Westerman
Catalans Dragons
Catalans have plenty of players off-contract, many of them older but lots of them are stars. One of those who is a player that the club must build around is Arthur Mourgue with the full-back/half-back being one of the shining lights in 2024.
Full off-contract list: Julian Bousquet, Alrix Da Costa, Theo Fages, Matthieu Laguerre, Arthur Mourgue, Tevita Pangai Jr, Arthur Romano, Chris Satae, Paul Séguier, Tariq Sims, Bayley Sironen, Sam Tomkins, Tanguy Zenon, Fouad Yaha.
Huddersfield Giants
Zac Woolford has only just signed for the club and Luke Robinson will be eagerly monitoring him and Thomas Deakin as two hookers on this list, however, Aidan McGowan is the player with the most potential on this list. The young full-back/winger could become a mainstay in years to come and it would be wise to tie him down before a bigger club swoops.
Full off-contract list: Jack Bibby, Jake Bibby, Connor Carr, Leroy Cudjoe, Thomas Deakin, Joe Greenwood, Harvey Livett, Aidan McGowan, Zac Woolford
Hull FC
Jordan Lane could be in line to become a true talismanic forward at Hull FC with the 27-year-old showcasing his work rate last season. He featured highly on the tackle and marker tackle rankings and could go to the next level in what will be an improved side in 2025.
Full off-contract list: Jack Ashworth, Harvey Barron, Denive Balmforth, Tom Briscoe, Zach Jebson, Will Gardiner, Matty Laidlaw, Jordan Lane, Ligi Sao, Nick Staveley, Cobie Wainhouse
Hull KR
After the club recently locked in Elliot Minchella long-term they could move to secure someone like Dean Hadley as well with the forward having a standout 2024. However, brilliant full-backs don’t come around too often and Niall Evalds showed he can still be that. He looks to have found a home at Craven Park so locking him in beyond 2025 should be a priority for Willie Peters.
Full off-contract list: Connor Barley, Niall Evalds, Dean Hadley, Tyrone May, Micky McIlorum, Jesse Sue, Neil Tchamambe, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, AJ Wallace
Leeds Rhinos
The jury might be out on Mikolaj Oledzki given that he’s not kicked on after playing in the 2022 World Cup but for a Leeds side that have struggled in their pack, he remains one of the key building blocks. In a full pre-season, if Brad Arthur can get him firing then clubs will quickly come calling.
Full off-contract list: James Bentley, Matt Frawley, Morgan Gannon, Ryan Hall, Tom Holroyd, Sam Lisone, James McDonnell, Mikołaj Oledzki
Leigh Leopards
Lachlan Lam is the obvious player here, particularly given what a possible exit could mean for the future of his father Adrian. The Lams and Edwin Ipape look like prime candidates for an NRL expansion team in PNG so retaining their services before that PNG side begins recruitment will be crucial.
Full off-contract list: Keanan Brand, Josh Charnley, Jack Hughes, Edwin Ipape, Lachlan Lam, Ben McNamara, Gareth O’Brien, Kavan Rothwell, Nathan Wilde
Salford Red Devils
Salford have 17 players without a deal for 2025 across a host of different positions. Jayden Nikorima is a worthwhile mention but Salford are a team unified by their leaders and Kallum Watkins is chief among those. Extending the ex-Leeds Rhinos man for a further year is the sort of statement that could see others fall in line.
Full off-contract list: Chris Atkin, Nathan Connell, Deon Cross*, Chris Hankinson, Chris Hill, Matty Foster, Ben Hellewell, Tim Lafai, Loghan Lewis, Joe Mellor, Kai Morgan, Jayden Nikorima, Jack Ormondroyd, Jamie Pye, Brad Singleton*, Kallum Watkins, Harvey Wilson
St Helens
Similar to Salford, St Helens have a host of players off-contract for 2025 and worryingly, lots come in the second-row where they currently boast so much depth. You’d assume that three or four get renewed in that position which would leave them free to prioritise their star man Matty Lees, who does have an option for 2026 anyway. The England international has been their most consistent forward for the past two years and is only getting better.
Full off-contract list: Joe Batchelor, James Bell, Jon Bennison, Jake Burns, Leon Cowen, Ben Davies, Morgan Knowles, Matty Lees*, Moses Mbye, Agnatius Paasi, Will Roberts, Dayon Sambou, Curtis Sironen, Noah Stephens*, Jonny Vaughan, Matt Whitley, Jake Wingfield
Wakefield Trinity
Max Jowitt is coming off a record-breaking season so it’s hard to look past him. That said, Trinity did sign Josh Rourke as competition after he impressed in his handful of games at London. Whichever man establishes himself as the starter in 2025 will be the priority for 2026.
Full off-contract list: Renouf Atoni, Luke Bain, Noah Booth, Mathieu Cozza, Jack Croft, Liam Hood, Josh Griffin, Max Jowitt, Jay Pitts, Josh Rourke, Matty Russell, Isaac Shaw, Lachlan Walmsley
Warrington Wolves
So much of Warrington’s brilliant play comes down their left-hand side where Toby King resides in the centres. He’s in his testimonial year but still has so much more to offer so tying him down and keeping that King-Ashton-Dufty-Williams combination firing would be the smart move.
Full off-contract list: Jordan Crowther, Zane Musgrove, Toby King, Sam Powell, Stefan Ratchford, Rodrick Tai, Paul Vaughan, Connor Wrench
Wigan Warriors
Adam Keighran replaced the aforementioned Toby King and he’s slotted in beautifully at Wigan. He can kick which takes pressure off Harry Smith and he also has the ability to move into the halves, something that could prove pivotal now that Ryan Hampshire has left. Keighran, who has recently spoken about the NRL, would edge it as a priority over veterans such as Farrell and Isa, just.
Full off-contract list: Liam Byrne, Jacob Douglas, Liam Farrell, Willie Isa, Adam Keighran

Just looked at the lists on off contract lists after next season, concerning Leigh I think if Lam and Ipape went they wouldn,t be missed. Lam to the end of last season lost his passing direction and his kicking was the most predictable in the league where Ipape was only a shadow of the previous year through injury.
