Every rugby league match you can watch live on TV this week

What a week of rugby league this promises to be. Tensions are getting higher as we pass the halfway mark in Super League, the NRL is getting spicier by the week, the top two in the Championship are set to battle and there’s the small matter of State of Origin.

That’s where this week’s rugby begins, in Australia as Shield holders New South Wales take on Queensland who are under the guidance of legend Billy Slater who has picked a very traditional looking Maroons team. His charges though will be up against a star-studded Blues side but concerningly for Brad Fittler two of his most important men – Tom Trbojevic and Latrell Mitchell – are unavailable.

Then attention swivels back to these shores with Salford and Wigan meeting. The last time these two tussled was on Channel 4 in a truly entertaining affair settled by a piece of magic from Jai Field. Having won the cup, Wigan are still flying high but last time out Salford’s good form came to a crashing stop against Hull KR.

Elsewhere in Super League, one of Wigan’s rivals at the top Catalans will be looking to get back on track after a slip up against Huddersfield. They host a Hull FC side still reeling on the back of a shock golden point defeat to Wakefield.

That game takes place on Saturday sandwiched by top drawer NRL action on Saturday and Sunday morning with Melbourne and Sydney set to collide in a massive match.

The week’s action concludes with a seismic game in the Championship as the competition’s two heavyweights go toe-to-toe again. So far in 2022, it’s one win a piece where Leigh vs Featherstone is concerned. Featherstone’s win over the Centurions earlier this campaign sees them hold the lead at the top but it is the Rovers who have something to prove in this battle of Super League hopefuls having been played off the park in the second half of the 1895 Cup Final.
