Every rugby league match you can watch live on TV this week

A through the camera perspective of the AJ Bell Stadium

After two weeks full of Super League coverage, the rugby league world shifts focus to the oldest competition there is – the Challenge Cup.

As per usual, the BBC has selected the very best ties to showcase to the nation but they’re not the only games you can watch live this weekend.

So, here’s ever rugby league match you can watch this week.

Thursday:

10:45 Sky Sports Arena – South Sydney Rabbitohs v Brisbane Broncos

In the early weeks of the competition, Souths have emerged as one of the major challengers with three wins from four including a comprehensive victory over rivals Sydney. They’ll be looking to continue that impressive start against a hapless Brisbane side who suffered a third defeat in four games at the hands of Melbourne last time out.

Friday:

10:50 Sky Sports Arena – Penrith Panthers v Canberra Raider

On Friday the NRL action gets even better as the 2020 runners-up take on the 2019 Grand Finalists in what should be a titanic battle between two sides on the up. The Panthers are top with 4 wins from 4 as they look to defend the Minor Premiership. Meanwhile, Canberra have only lost once in the opening four rounds and sit just behind Penrith in the table.

19:45 The Sportsman website, YouTube and Facebook – York City Knights v Wigan Warriors

On Friday night The Sportsman site continue their coverage of the Challenge Cup with a game streamed live on their website, YouTube channel and Facebook page. It sees the competition’s most successful side Wigan take on a re-vamped York team who boast plenty of Challenge Cup Final experience in the shape of Ben Jones-Bishop, Ryan Atkins and others. York will be eyeing up promotion this year and can make an early statement by giving the Warriors a real game.

Saturday:

14:00 BBC One – St Helens v Leeds Rhinos

In the tie of the round, Super League Champions St Helens take on Challenge Cup holders Leeds for a place in the last 8 of this year’s competition. St Helens haven’t beaten the Rhinos in the Cup since 2009 and haven’t won the cup since 2008. However, against an injury ravaged Leeds team they’ll be massive favourites.

16:30 BBC Two – Catalans Dragons v Wakefield Trinity

The second part of the Challenge Cup double-header on BBC sees 2018 winners Catalans take on Wakefield for the second consecutive year. The Dragons will be looking to continue their 100% start to the season whilst Wakefield are looking for a first win of the campaign.

Every Challenge Cup game not available on BBC or The Sportsman website can be streamed on the OurLeague App for £4.95 in advance or £10 on the day.
