Every rugby league match you can watch live on TV this week

A through the camera perspective of the AJ Bell Stadium

The Challenge Cup, the oldest and most prestigious tournament in rugby league, takes centre stage this week as Super League’s biggest names enter the competition.

Alongside an enjoyable serving of cup action, fans can also look forward to Round Three of the NRL.

So, here’s every game you can watch live this weekend.

Friday

South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Sydney Roosters – Sky Sports Arena 09:00
There are few bigger games than Souths vs Sydney in world rugby league such is the intensity of their rivalry. Souths have struggled at the start of the season in the wake of Adam Reynolds’ departure but where a whisker away from victory last week. As for their city rivals, the Roosters picked up a first win of the season last week and against their bitter rivals will be hoping to build on that momentum.

Wigan Warriors vs Salford Red Devils – Premier Sports 19:00
In 1996, Salford completed one of the biggest cup upsets ever when they ended Wigan’s near decade unbeaten run in the tournament despite being in the division below. A win this weekend wouldn’t be quite the same shock especially after their win over Leeds last week, but it would be the perfect step forward on what may be another Challenge Cup fairytale for the Red Devils. However, Wigan are a very dangerous side and a front runner for silverware so Matt Peet will no doubt be hoping to get through to the next round.

Saturday

Canberra Raiders vs Gold Coast Titans – Sky Sports Arena 08:30
These two NRL sides known well by English audiences due to the English contingent who have plied their trade at Canberra and the presence of former St Helens coach Justin Holbrook at Gold Coast. Both have one win in 2022 so this game will be key as they look to get their seasons off to a strong start.

Whitehaven vs St Helens – The Sportsman 14:00
What a day for Whitehaven this should prove to be as they welcome Super League’s current super club, the reigning Champions and cup holders St Helens. A deserved reward for a side who has shown real determination in the Championship over the last few years.

Leeds Rhinos vs Castleford Tigers – BBC Two 16:00
A West Yorkshire derby between two of Super League’s surprise strugglers, a win in the cup would give either side the massive boost they need. For Leeds, this will be the first game after Richard Agar’s decision to step down as Head Coach and could be the first step in a new journey for the club. In a repeat of the 2014 cup final, this should be a seismic occasion.

Sunday

Brisbane Broncos vs North Queensland Cowboys – Sky Sports Arena 06:00
Akin to the Sydney derby, we are treated to another huge local clash as Brisbane and North Queensland meet. For the first time in what feels like forever, the Broncos find themselves in the top four after two wins from two. There’s real optimism for the club after two games but they’ll need to maintain that against the fifth place Cowboys.

Warrington Wolves vs Wakefield Trinity – Premier Sports 13:30
For the second week in a row, Warrington host Wakefield. After being blown away by Trinity in the league, Daryl Powell will be looking for a response in a competition the Wolves have a great recent history in. If Powell wants to continue that legacy, his side will need a good showing against the reinvigorated Wakefield.

Barrow Raiders vs Huddersfield Giants – BBC Two 16:00
The Championship’s surprise package in 2022 takes on Super League’s surprise package as two teams enjoying the start of the season meet. Barrow are currently unbeaten and in the mix at the top of the Championship whilst Huddersfield have just lost twice and are in the top four. All of this makes for an interesting cup tie.
