Every player Hull FC are rumoured to have signed

Hull FC have suffered a disastrous start to the season and it continues to rumble on. Their struggles in 2024 have been well documented. The Black and Whites have managed just one win from their opening 13 Super League games, including a defeat which gave the London Broncos their only win of the season so far. 

Richie Myler was brought in as Director of Rugby and Tony Smith was replaced as head coach by interim Simon Grix. John Cartwright will join FC for the 2025 season, and Hull’s plans for a major rebuild are well underway. John Asiata will join them from the Leigh Leopards as their cornerstone signing, and a raft of others are expected to follow.

With FC fans desperate for some hope for next season, we round up the Hull FC signings that are rumoured to be on the horizon.

Zak Hardaker

Zak Hardaker has crossed from Yorkshire to Lancashire and back more times than a TransPennine express train in recent years, and he looks set to make the move again for 2025. After ending his second spell with the Leeds Rhinos in 2022, Hardaker joined the Leigh Leopards in 2023 and has enjoyed huge success during his time in Lancashire.

Hardaker was a crucial part of the Leopards’ side which won the 2023 Challenge Cup and broke into Super League’s top four. Hardaker has been a regular again this season for the Leopards, as they look to overcome a slow start and close the gap on the top six.

At 32, Hardaker remains a quality operator in Super League and has bags of experience. FC’s back line has suffered from a lack of experience at time’s this season and Hardaker will help to address this shortcoming.

Hardaker should be a solid addition to the FC squad for the 2025 season.

Amir Bourouh

Although it may feel that way at times, Danny Houghton cannot continue forever. In many ways, it feels an unfitting end for a club stalwart to be part of a team destined to finish the season with less than a handful of wins. However, Houghton’s commitment to the cause cannot be questioned.

FC look to be making plans for life without him. According to reports, young hooker, Amir Bourouh will join the club next season from the Salford Red Devils. Bourouh was born in Halifax, but is a product of the Wigan Adademy, and played nine times for them before moving to Salford in 2022.

This season has seen Bourouh break into the Salford side on a regular basis following the departure of Andy Ackers. He has made eight appearances and scored his first career try in their victory over the Castleford Tigers in February.

Bourouh seems to have caught the eye of the FC hierarchy, and looks set to return to his native Yorkshire in 2025.

Elliott Whitehead

Elliott Whitehead looked all but set to ride off into the sunset at the end of this season. Having retired from international Rugby in 2023, and his contract with the Canberra Raiders set to expire, the received wisdom seemed to suggest that Whitehead would hang up his boots.

But then, reports began to emerge that the ex-England international has aspirations of playing one more year in Super League before ending his career.

Hull FC reportedly hold a strong interest in bringing Whitehead back to Super League, with Director of Rugby, Richie Myler, stating “if he wants to come back to England we’d be interested in a conversation. He’s that mould of leader and high-performing individual we’d be interested in”.

Whitehead would add significant experience and leadership to an FC side which has looked rudderless at times. With 193 NRL appearances under his belt, alongside 165 Super League games across spells with the Catalans Dragons and Bradford Bulls, he would be the perfect person to help build a winning culture at FC.

Oliver Holmes

When Hull FC announced the signing of John Asiata from Leigh, it sent shock waves across the world of Rugby League. As it turns out, he may just be the first of a raft of signings to cross the Pennines, and swap their leopard print for black and white stripes.

Oliver Holmes is heavily rumoured to be making the switch, and he is another player who would bring significant experience. Holmes has made over 250 Super League appearances across spells with Castleford, Warrington Wolves and Leigh. Like Hardaker, he joined the club ahead of the 2023 season and was a major part of their successful 2023 season.

Holmes has missed a of 2024 with an injury, however he made his return to the side in April against former side, Warrington, and has made four appearances so far this season, scoring twice against Hull in March.

The Black and Whites will be hoping that Holmes can repeat that trick in 2025, except in a Black and White shirt this time.

Jayden Sullivan

Hull FC’s attack has looked toothless at times, as they have continued their struggles in Super League. Jayden Sullivan looks set to be the person they turn to, in an attempt to avoid a repeat of this year’s struggles in 2025.

Speaking on Sky Sports last night, Jenna Brooks broke the story that FC were chasing Sullivan, stating, “Hull FC are seriously considering signing half-back Jayden Sullivan. Now I can tell you that Sullivan comes with quite the price tag. I understand it’s close to £180,000 a year so he would be quite the marquee signing.”

Sullivan has struggled to settle at perennial NRL strugglers, the Wests Tigers, and is reportedly available for transfer. The Tigers are bringing star half-back, Jerome Luai, to the club next year, so are desperate to balance the books.

Sullivan is a livewire half, who would compliment Jake Truman’s skill set nicely. If Sullivan does join, then FC’s attack should be in much better shape next year.
